Masks for NY was a quickly established non-profit in upstate New York to make use of the tools at hand in the very beginning of the pandemic of 2020: people at suddenly at home and their sewing machines.
Utilizing an already established network of philanthropy that existed to help alleviate the homeless in the Tarrytown area, fabric, elastic and other materials needed were found, sewing done, and contactless masks pick-up and distribution started.
Prior associates reached out to me to make a logo that could be used to help drive their marketing efforts to outfit as many people with masks as possible in as short a time as possible. The initial name, Sew for NY, modified to Masks for NY, sketches were done, and very quickly we had a logo that everyone loved. Additional textures were applied to change up the look and provide a degree of fun in a bleak time.
